Cross-cultural singer-songwriter Alex*Cuba makes his highly anticipated return to The Arden stage after performing at last year’s season launch. Slow-burning soul songs and infectious dance tunes driven by Cuban percussion put Alex*Cuba at the forefront of Latin alternative/pop music.
Funky, soulful and suave, Cuba’s music goes beyond the Buena Vista Social Club and Guantanmera-esque style that is expected of Latin music. “I don’t consider my music just Cuban music. It’s more than that,” he says.
The afro-sporting, boyishly handsome two-time Juno Award winner’s smoky, untamed voice has the rare ability to evoke deep emotion ... en español. But even audiences who aren’t versed in the Spanish language will fall in love with Cuba’s sweet melodies, pop-soul hooks and romantic rhythms.
