The cool and classy era of silent film just got hot
In this special cinematic performance, The Hot Club of San Francisco presents Cinema Vivant: an evening of vintage silent films accompanied by live music. Matching every movement on the screen with the Hot Club's characteristic virtuosity, passion and humor, Cinema Vivant celebrates the innovative storytelling and animation of film pioneers Ladislaw Starewicz and Charley Bowers.
Led by the highly impressive Paul Mehling — a lifelong fan of the gypsy style — this seven-piece ensemble dances with the spirit of Django Reinhardt, keeping the music sharp, mysterious and the perfect accompaniment for these imaginative films. Consider it date night with all the romance of Paris circa 1930 — sumptuous and sophisticated.
