About the Arden Theatre

Intimate, comfortable, superbly equipped

Located in St. Albert Place and designed by acclaimed architect Douglas Cardinal, the Arden Theatre has gained an international reputation for excellence.

Since opening its doors in 1984, the Arden Theatre has played host to some of the world's most renowned artists — from Celine Dion to Arlo Guthrie — as well as local musicians, dance schools, theatre troupes and school productions from our own community.

Welcoming more than 65,000 patrons to over 150 events annually, The Arden has presented excellence in artistic programming for over 28 years, offering a variety of music, theatre, and dance events for arts lovers of all ages. Thanks to significant support from the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Arden Theatre invested in a state-of-the-art sound console and installed new theatre seats and aisle lighting in the summer of 2011 to enhance the overall experience and comfort and safety of our patrons.

This year we also launched our new Take a Seat Donor Program, designed to recognize people with a connection to the Arden Theatre. Take a Seat offers you the unique opportunity to create a lasting legacy in this treasured performing arts venue. Your donation to the Arden Theatre will place the name of your family, friend or business in the spotlight with an elegant, personalized plaque that will be mounted on the armrest of the seat of your choice.

Ardent Volunteers

Part of The Arden’s success is due to the support the theatre receives from the community, and the Ardent Volunteer Corps is an outstanding example. A vibrant group of people with diverse skills and interests, the Ardents volunteer their time and talent in various areas.

Some are house managers and ushers, others work behind the scenes with our technicians while the Hospitality Committee ensures our artists receive star treatment during their stay.

Interested in becoming a part of this integral team? Please call The Arden at 780-459-1540 for more information on volunteering.
